UWA's VPN is called SNAP and is primarily used on the campus wireless network, but can also be used from anywhere on the internet, which is useful if you require a UWA IP for journal access etc. Here are some things about SNAP ITS doesn't tell you:
- SNAP will disconnect you when it thinks you've gone below -$7, but it doesn't distinguish between on-net and off-net traffic. If you've been doing on-net traffic, your SNAP account will be reset overnight.
- mirror.aarnet.edu.au is off-net traffic, in a deliberate ploy by AARNet to generate income.
