Differences between revisions 4 and 6 (spanning 2 versions)

Plans for future cleanups and room rearrangements

Triage and dump the stack of Suns under the desk closest to the machine room
Triage and dump the billions of keyboards in the keyboard drawer in the main corridor
Triage and dump as necessary the DEC and other gear upstairs in the loft

Deal with the shelving!

Some suggestions have been made that we stack the shelving with the long edges touching, rather than the short edges. Blocked by the lack of tidy arrangements.

Machine Room

Mermaid: is only running the dispense server. This could be moved to Mussel or Martello, and the machine decommissioned.
Coax network: the DEC coax repeater in the rack can go. We need a 10baseT AUI module for the DECserver on the desk (which runs the door sensors and lock).
Manbo: there are plans by various wheel group members to move data storage for /away and /services off Manbo and onto Musundo, the much faster Solaris machine in the machine room. If this happens, Manbo can be moved offsite (where to?) and used via remote access.
Morwong: this machine helps keep the LAT network stable, and runs [TRS]' screen session. Several people have suggested that we decommission it; these people have met with mysterious horrifying accidents.
